Myself and botanist Bridget Keenan hosted a botanist walk and cameraless workshop on Turbet Island as part of Science week - The rain didnt damped the day - great to find so many plants - an abundance of wild strawberry, various ferns, mosses, and many beautiful native trees amongst some of the plants we discussed. Collecting a few samples -participants create a cyanotype and also a turmeric print... Photos developing under Infrared light Before After
Wetlands in Ireland have declined by 90% since the 1700s, 35% since the 1970s. Wetlands support vital biodiversity, carbon storage, and flood protection, crucial ecosystems with a vast range of native plant and animal species. This public art project builds awareness of Wetlands through community and expert engagement, biodiversity, a celebration of local tradition, myth, culture, coming together & utilising cameraless photographic techniques. Kindly supported by the Cavan Arts Office.
